For example, if you take levothyroxine (a thyroid hormone replacement), you need to space it at least four hours apart from your magnesium or it won't work as well. Magnesium can also reduce the absorption of certain antibiotics (like tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones) and bisphosphonates (medicines used for bone density) unless you separate the doses by several hours. And because magnesium can modestly lower blood pressure, if you're already on blood pressure medication, watch for dizziness or unusually low readings when you start a new magnesium routine.
Finally, think of magnesium as a core piece of your electrolyte and hydration plan. GLP-1 medications raise the risk of dehydration and electrolyte imbalances both because they quiet your thirst signals and because vomiting or diarrhea can flush minerals out.
